As a church
We ask our churches to map their resources – of time, talents, buildings, etc – to find out what they already have to offer those in their communities. We aim to connect new arrivals with what is going on in their neighbourhoods. Some examples of activities are: play groups, drop-in cafes, English conversation groups, football matches, sewing and craft groups; the list goes on.
We can also provide training to help churches prepare their volunteers to welcome people from different backgrounds. Get in touch to find out more.
As an individual
- Write messages of welcome for those beginning new lives in the city. This is a lovely way to honour the humanity of new arrivals, and to provide a decoration for their new home. This brief document has some pointers about how to go about this, and details for where to send the messages.
- Follow Edinburgh Churches for Sanctuary on Facebook for more information about ways to get involved. We post requests for specific donations when we get them, and updates on forthcoming events.
